Secondly every team analyses other fellow teams on what are they and want they lack on the bases of previous years performances . So, here according to RCB they have identified that CSK will be missing an opener slot which for years they have been filling it with an overseas batsmen right from Matthew Hayden,(2008-2010) Mike Hussey(2011-2014), Brendon McCullum(2015), Shane Watson (2018-2020)most recently Watson retired from all format cricket, so they are expecting CSK to go for Steve Smith as he can open the innings and he is an Aussie as well which is kinda coincidence, so if CSK goes for it can completely eliminate CSK from the picture for Glen Maxwell, which makes life easier. BUT no, your RCB think tank failed to analyse that CSK needs someone who can open+also bowl 2 overs+right arm finger off spinner+also can bat down the order at 5
